Enclosure Trainings with John Straube of RDH Building Science

Dr. John Straube will teach four classes in three locations in the Greater Bay Area over May 22,
23, & 24. John is a building science engineer working in RDH?s Toronto and Waterloo offices.
He heads forensic investigations and leads research projects in the areas of low-energy building
design, building enclosure performance, hygrothermal analysis, and field monitoring of wall
assemblies. Dr. Straube is also a cross-appointed faculty member in the School of Architecture
and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo.

Building Science Principles for High Performance Nonresidential Building Enclosures
Dr. Straube will explain building science principles and discuss how these principles apply to
commercial and institutional buildings with a variety of structural systems, including (1) framed
load-bearing, exterior walls, (2) concrete and steel structures with infill walls and punched
windows, and (3) 'storefront' and curtain wall enclosures. Dr. Straube will review high
