Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt (Salaried)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (hours may vary based on project needs) In-office, not remote.

Compensation: $85,000-95,000 per year, based on experience, skills and qualifications. Additional performance incentives are available.

Position Overview

We're looking for an experienced Director of Landscape Maintenance to lead our maintenance division. You'll oversee every part of account maintenance, including sales, production, scheduling and crew training, and hold the division to current green industry standards. You'll lead crew leaders and field staff to deliver consistent, high-quality service on every account. You'll also work closely with clients, subcontractors and suppliers, and with our Sales, Estimating, HR and Administration teams. This role is central to running an efficient operation and delivering on time.

Key Responsibilities:

Field Operations

  • Supervise 4+ maintenance crews so service is delivered on time and efficiently.
  • Visit job sites regularly to keep accounts on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors and suppliers so jobs are carried out accurately and on time.
  • Manage material ordering and delivery so job sites have the right materials when they need them.
  • Make sure all equipment is maintained, operated safely and checked on a preventive schedule.

Client Growth, Financials & Reporting

  • Complete daily field reviews and send them to the Accounting Department and President for quality control.
  • Submit vendor delivery tickets and related paperwork to the Operations Manager every day.
  • Monitor job costs, labor hours and gross margin against budget, and take corrective action when accounts run over.
  • Prepare accurate estimates and proposals for enhancement work.
  • Find opportunities for enhancement work and support its sale, production and billing.
  • Review vendor invoices for accuracy.
  • Log client communications, site visits and service requests in the company CRM, and follow up promptly on new leads and client concerns.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs with clients to review property condition, document issues and identify enhancement opportunities.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company safety procedures and report unsafe conditions right away.
  • Work with the Office Manager to complete and submit accident reports and workers' compensation claims.

Leadership & Planning

  • Help develop and carry out the company's annual budget, strategic goals and production plans.
  • Keep the President and Operations Manager updated on job progress, challenges and service issues.
  • Lead training programs that uphold our service and quality standards.
  • Evaluate crew performance and give ongoing feedback, coaching and training.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in landscape maintenance or construction, including managing multiple field crews
  • Able to read and interpret landscape and irrigation plans, and to install irrigation controllers and related components
  • Experience with landscape business management software for scheduling, time tracking, job costing and estimating (e.g., JanMar,LMN or Aspire), and a CRM for managing client accounts
  • Proven experience training crews and developing safety protocols
  • Strong knowledge of Northern California plants, turf, pests and diseases
  • Valid California driver's license, and able to meet company insurance requirements to drive a company vehicle
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) on Windows
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to meet the physical demands listed below

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Landscape Industry Certified Manager (formerly CLP) or Technician (formerly CLT)

Physical Demands

This role requires standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling and repetitive motion. It also requires lifting up to 50 lbs and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
