The Town of San Anselmo Joins the Marin Builders Association’s Permit Improvement Program
The Marin Builders Association (MBA) is excited to announce that the Town of San Anselmo has officially joined the Permit Improvement Program (PIP), MBA’s flagship initiative. The PIP aims to enhance the customer experience in the permit process while reducing the pervasiveness of unpermitted and potentially hazardous construction in San Anselmo.
As part of this new partnership, the Marin Builders Association and the Town of San Anselmo will assess and improve the overall customer experience within the Planning and Building Departments.
“As the new Community Development Director, I recognize that prioritizing customer service is essential to fostering a positive relationship between the Town and its residents. By partnering with the Marin Builders Association, I am confident that we can significantly enhance the customer experience for the residents of San Anselmo. This collaboration will allow us to identify and implement effective strategies that not only streamline the permitting process but also ensure that our citizens feel supported and valued throughout their interactions with our Planning and Building Departments." said Heidi Scoble, Community Development Director.
The Permit Improvement Program will commence with comprehensive data-driven measurement, review, and analysis of the customer experience. The outcome will be a detailed report for the Town, incorporating data from recent customer and staff surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one interviews. This report will provide best practices along with actionable recommendations for process improvements.
"We believe this partnership is a win-win-win. Homeowners, contractors, and the entire community will benefit. Our research indicates that a significant amount of construction in Marin is occurring without proper building permits, which can lead to resale issues, potential safety hazards, and reduced resources for the Town of San Anselmo in assisting permit customers. A more accessible permitting experience will ultimately benefit the community as a whole," added Rick Wells, CEO of the Marin Builders Association.
The Marin Builders Association is dedicated to serving the construction industry by promoting high ethical and professional standards, providing quality services to its members, and responsibly engaging with the community to enhance the building industry.
