The County of Marin will open the 2026–27 funding cycle for federal and state housing and community development programs on January 19, 2026. The application period will close on February 19, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
Estimated funding available this cycle includes:
- $1,500,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, including approximately $430,000 for Community Infrastructure
- $700,000 in HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funds
- $900,000 in Permanent Local Housing Allocation (PLHA) funds matched by the Marin County Affordable Housing Fund (HTF) (total inclusive of match)
The County will accept new applications only for Affordable Housing and Community Infrastructure/Capital Improvements projects during this cycle. Under the Priority Setting Committee’s two-year cycle, Public Services programs do not reapply in Year 2; renewals are based on performance, reporting compliance, and available CDBG funds.
Funding Disclaimer
Funding amounts listed above are estimates and are subject to change based on final allocations received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), including final PLHA award amounts.
Applications submitted during the open period will be reviewed by the Priority Setting Committee, followed by City Council review in San Rafael and Novato. Late applications will not be accepted. Final funding recommendations will be forwarded to the Marin County Board of Supervisors for approval.
Application Workshop
An Applicant Workshop will be held on
January 22, 2026 to walk through eligibility requirements, eligible uses of funds, application questions, and how to navigate and submit the application in Neighborly. We will also cover common pitfalls and allow time for questions.
