Safety & Training Shorts: Heat Illness Awareness & Prevention

Heat illnesses refer to serious and potentially life-threatening medical conditions that happen when the body is unable to cope with excessive heat. Both outdoor and indoor work environments may have hot conditions. As a result, workers may experience heat-related health problems. This training helps you understand how to prevent heat illness situations and what to do if you or a coworker have signs of a heat illness. Note: This training covers heat illness prevention requirements for workplaces in California.

CALIFORNIA REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

  •  Indoor and outdoor employers have responsibilities to protect their workers. They are required to outline their facility-specific responses to minimizing heat illness exposures through the development of a Heat Illness Prevention Plan.
